Spotted Holsteiners

Cloverlone's own line of spotted Holsteiners started in 1986 with Locksley Spotlight. He was sired by the Cor de la Bryere son Churchill (HOL) out of an appaloosa/tb mare, Miss T Damae. Miss T Damae was by the thoroughbred stallion, Everett's Son and had a thoroughbred female family going back to a mare named Golden Fury. Locksley Spotlight stood a solid 17 hands and had his sire's type though increased in body mass. His jump was always comfortable to ride and if left alone he found perfect distances and had auto changes. In his first year of showing he placed in large amateur classes when spotted horses were not acceptable. He passed away much too young and so we never knew what he was really capable of. Morton 'Cappy' Smith visited him numerous times to see him jump and would always comment he was one of best raw jumping talents he had ever seen. Spotlight was not a professional's horse though, and took years before any rider could stay on his back after he had had a bad start. Who knows what set him off initially, but once the bond was made he was the most breath taking ride I have ever known in 30 years.

Grandson, Captain America, is an improved version of Spotlight. His appaloosa outcross blood is down to 4.4%, movement has improved and he has good trainability. This is the stallion to set the next generation into motion. He is capable of siring all disciplines depending on the mare. Spotlight's black and white coat pattern was truly ideal. Breeding 'Cappy' back to black warmblood mares would be best chance of producing this pattern again.
